Dog mum splashes out £23,000 pampering her 12 sausage dogs with designer clothes

A Miniature Dachshund-loving mum who shares a bed with her pups has revealed how she spent over £23,000 on her 12 tiny sausage dogs whom she has decked out with designer clothes.

Mum-of-one human, Claire Membury, 47, bought her first Miniature Dachshund four years ago and became hooked by their individual and unique personalities.

Claire said that the spoilt sausages have a wardrobe bigger than hers, with designer labels such as Gucci, and when they’re not cuddling up in the couple’s own bed, they relax in two £500 orthopaedic beds.

The dog groomer, from Shrewsbury, Shropshire, has even moved her bedroom with husband Leigh, 51, downstairs where they share an 8ft long bed with the pups.

Claire said: “I picked up my first dog about four years ago. Miniature Dachshunds are just incredibly perfect dogs, they’re to die for.

“All of their personalities are out of this world, that I just keep going out and buying them.

“I dread to think how much I’ve spent on them, but I can’t help it.

“I’d hate if anything ever happened to them and sometimes worry about dog theft.

As well as her 12 Miniature Dachshunds, Chanel, four; Darla, four; Niko, four; Luna, three; Scotty, two; Donna, two; Scarlett, two; Forest, one; Lemmy, 10 months; Echo, nine months; Lando, eight months and Coal, six months – Claire also has Princess the Dalmatian, 12, two horses and chickens.

Speaking about the dogs’ designer gear, she said: “Their wardrobe is double the size of mine, if not bigger. I’ve spent hundreds, if not thousands on their clothes.

“They’ve all got shoes, raincoats, hats and warm jackets which can be quite practical in the cold months.

“Donna has sun glasses to protect her eyes and Princess has her own knickers. They all love to be dolled up.

“They are all fed on a raw food diet. They have everything from chicken feet and rabbit ears to fruits, vegetables such as celery, and lots of tablets and vitamins.

“Sometimes they get a sweet treat too which they love. I try to budget at £25 a week for all of their food, and bulk buy a lot of it.

“They eat better than we do!”

The 12 Dachshunds also have a free roam of the house and Claire’s spacious back garden.

Claire added: “I never take them out on walks outside of the house, as I feel people will think I’m a bit crazy.

“They’re all my little children, and they’re absolutely perfect.

“It’s like having a full-time job caring for them all, they love to demand attention but they’re worth it.”
